Apply for a Mini-Grant

DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION

These individual awards for Enrichment Programs are designed to encourage staff members to develop and implement mini-grants, which will enhance our extra-curricular and educational programs and be of direct benefit to our students.

Guidelines for Applying

1. Any staff member, or group of staff members, may submit a grant proposal.

2. The FSF will accept proposals for mini-grants throughout the academic year. Proposals for mini grants will be reviewed by the FSF Mini-Grant Committee, and feedback will be provided within 30 days of the request. The FSF budget for mini grants is for the entire fiscal year. Pennsylvania Educational Tax Credit (EITC) funds become available intermittently throughout the year, and may increase the original budget. The funds from EITC may be restricted and will adhere to the criteria set forth by the state of Pennsylvania. This should not, however, prohibit any requests as the Foundation mini-grant budget is a separate fund from the money received from the state. The Foundation Mini-Grant Committee will be responsible for managing all requests, and submitting those that meet state guidelines to the state. Staff members are asked only to submit appropriately documented requests, and the Foundation will implement proper submission.

3. Proposals will be screened using the following criteria but not limited to:
     •  How many students will be serviced?
     • What is the benefit to students’ education?
     • Is the proposed project creative and innovative?
     • Is the project an extension of the normal classroom curriculum?
     • Does the project think outside the box?

4. All projects are initially reviewed by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment for compatibility with the school district curriculum.

5. Staff compensation cannot be a part of the grant request.

Application Submission Process

Proposals should be submitted through the building principal or supervisor using the Fairview School Foundation mini-grant application form.  All applications will then be forwarded to the Director of Curriculum for review. Proposals meeting the stated requirements will be forwarded to the Foundation Board for review. Feedback will be provided within 30 days of receipt of the request.

The following guidelines will be used in implementing these projects, which are approved.

1. All material requests submitted on FSF requisition forms will be purchased by the Foundation coordinator.

2. All items purchased, any materials developed, and the project itself shall become the property of the School District.

3. All applicants are expected to complete an Evaluation Form, which describes how student learning has been enhanced, with recommendations for possible future use of these ideas at the conclusion of the project.

4. Teachers receiving awards are asked to acknowledge the Fairview School Foundation in all correspondence and/or media coverage.
